For the past eight years he has been using old X-ray films to make the hand-held drums that play such an important role in Malay ceremonies, such as weddings and welcoming important guests.
The 53-year-old creative mind behind the Sinar Harapan Kompang Association in Bachang, said he first tried replacing the goat skins with the plastic skins used for regular drums, but they were too expensive. Taken from NST
